Euro Trip Part 1 - Frankfurt Car Show

On Wednesday, September 23rd, Katie arrived at Frankfurt airport bright and early! We had some trouble navigating the airport and finding her (of course) but managed to locate her and scoop her up.

Despite the jet lag we headed to a nearby car show (IAA) that Rob and his friend Josh were super stoked to attend. This was the 66th year for it. I was pretty excited to go too since I'd never been to anything like it before. Since we arrived around 1000/1030 am (on a Wednesday mind you) we thought it wouldn't be that busy - and boy were we wrong!

First we parked a ways out and rode the shuttle over to the fair grounds. After snagging our tickets and heading in we learned that the show was split up and spread out across multiple buildings (usually those companies that produced multiple car brands were housed together). The first building we walked into was BMW, Mini, and some other ones I can't remember. It was SO PACKED! Some of the buildings were literally so packed it was like swimming through people. That was the part I hated. Seeing the cars was really cool, especially since many of them I'd never seen before like a Rolls Royce or a Bugatti. The BMW building even had a race track that ran through it for the new cars to drive by on. That was super cool.

I love the matte silver paint!

This is the underside of the race track I mentioned above.

We had a great time, but with the crowd I was ready to go! Rob and Josh could have stayed there all day I'm sure. Once we left we drove back to Baumholder, snagged some euro at the bank for our travels to Paris the next day, and headed home to get packed. Plus Katie was worn out after our busy day and wanted to squeeze some extra zzzs in since we planned to leave early in the morning. All in all - it was a successful first outing for the beginning of our Euro Trip.
