The Day After the Festivities

Day 3, September 27th :
Since we didn't do much shopping our first day in town because we wanted to see what the fest had we figured stopping back in Marienplatz for the morning made the most sense. We walked around the market more and stopped in a few stores before we headed back to Baumholder.
I wish we lived in a bigger city that had markets all the time! I'd love
to be able to grocery shop here. Such a great selection and so fresh!
I mean look at all these potatoes!
We even stumbled upon a cute lil doggy enjoying some water in the square.
He eventually ended up getting all the way in!

This was just a random wall we walked past.
I thought it looked neat.
And this was right after the vines on the wall. I'd love to have
something like this maybe in a backyard area for privacy? Hot tub area?!
Plus you can't go wrong with all this cheese to pick from!
I love living in this country. Don't get me wrong America rocks but Europe
has a lot of cool aspects I really love.
These guys were cute. Wooden handmade ducks.
Adorable for a patio I'd think.
Then, on top of veggies, fruits, and cheese we also came across delicious fresh spices!
A chef's heaven.
Being in the September-October season I love this picture!
I honestly have no idea what these are but took the photo for fun.
I love to photograph plants for some reason. I know I'll have so many amazing
pictures to frame after living here.
VEGGIES. Cynthia bought one of these HUGE artichokes.
Mo' Peppas.
Love the vibrant colors.
I know I posted a few pictures on another blog post but I love the
door hangers they were selling. Even with a brezel on 'em
*so German*
I collect shot glasses from all the cities and places we go.
I didn't get this one this time because I got one from Oktoberfest BUT
next time I'm in Munich I'll buy it to commemorate that trip.
This was a sign outside a little food shop we walked past.
I took this one for my mommy! We were in a Christmas store and I saw so many Santas I know
she would have loved!
Another duckie! I really might start collecting them.
Is that sad? He's adorbs.
*brezel and bier*

After walking around and picking up some last minute souvenirs it was time to head back to the car and then to Baumholder. It was about a 4.5 hour drive back and we didn't wanna get back super late.

Once we got back to the park and ride area we came across this gem.

you can tell from where the other car is that this guy totally isn't in a spot.
Not sure if he knows that?
His e-brake was up and I'm pretty sure it rolled here while he was gone. :)
All in all it was a great way to wrap up the trip. I really love Munich and can't wait to go back and explore some more! We had a great time and I am DEFINITELY going to Oktoberfest next year when Rob is back!

OktoberFEST!!

Day 2, September 26th :
Friday came so quickly! We were all up bright and early to get ready and snag a hotel breakfast before we left. All the ladies in the group got all dolled up in drindls (except me :]) and all the guys were in lederhosen.
Since I didn't have a drindl this is what I was rockin'
a little boring but I'm waiting to buy one till next year *when I'm smaller ;]*

Pretty drindls!!

Cynthia looking adorable in her drindl- flaunting
her adorable money bag the husband made!
While we were all out in front of the hotel waiting for everyone to
gather we each got our tent bracelets to put on!
The train ride to the fest was only a few stops past Marienplatz and didn't take long at all. Then once we got off the train all we had to do was follow the herd. There were SO many people and it was impossible to get lost on the way there. A hop skip and a jump and we were there, along with the rest of the mob.

"Welcome to Oktoberfest"
"Goodbye!"
YAY OKTOBERFEST!!!!

One of the first tents we walked past right inside.
and then- OUR TENT :D (known for its oxen)

Then, with our nifty bracelets, we walked into our tent to find our reserved tables. Swear at this point I'm still overwhelmed with excitement and it was only 11am!!

And inside the tent was AMAZING!!

This was the view down from our reserved tables on the upper level.
The menu for our tent
So much to choose from!!
Reserved seating, NBD.
They had people walking around selling soft pretzels and Danette got one.
It was the BEST most FRESH pretzel EVER!!
a quote written on the balcony railing
Me and my #1 beer :D
Cynthia and Danette and their first beers!
:D

Danette had super ADORABLE earrings.
and a bracelet. I want something like this for next year.
First round done: successful.
Beer #2!
*Fake Double Fisting*

It was Cynthia's anniversary! Had to take a picture of
her and the hubby sharing an anniversary kiss.

Two beers in the same hand? Trooper. They're heavy.
1/2 Chicken dinner plate

This is the necklace we were all given the prior night. Super pretty.
beer #3
Bread, meats, and cheeses? Yes please.
The hours passed fast and before we knew it our reserved time was up. We ended up having a great time but were ready to get up and walk around. We didn't explore the fest at all before we went in the tent so we had no idea what was out there!

First stop- some amazing HOT NUTS.
um YUM

And Danette had coffee. How adorbs.
Sweet bread? Yes please. So many yummy foods here.
Then as we walked around there were SO MANY RIDES! It was like an American festival except it even had roller coasters. It was lots of fun to walk around but we slowly learned that if you wanted beer it could only be bought in the tents. We kinda decided this was probably to reduce the number of insanely drunk tourists.

We stumbled upon people doing push-ups and Amme's husband had to show em up.
One of the roller coasters they had.

adorable German duckies. I feel like I need to collect ducks here there are so many of them.
of course, traditional gingerbread hearts.

we got lazy and sat on the ground. weird Americans.
weird Germans with no benches.
Then on our way out I had to snag a soft pretzel to go.
That lady in the back wanted my pretzel hardcore.
And- can't forget- I snagged an Oktoberfest shirt! :D

We ended up having a great time but once we got out and walked around and everyone started to sober up we started to get tired. We didn't stay at the festival too late. I think next year the game plan will be to stay in the tent longer. Once our reservations would be up we would instead find a table on the lower level and continue partying on. A friend of mine went to Oktoberfest after I did and she even tent-hopped which is totally happening next year. Good thing we had this as a learning experience! I'll be so tour-guidey once Rob's back :D!

On our walk back to the train we had to stop for a quick photo-op!

Danette, Amme, MaKalia, and Haley
Once we got back to the hotel we were all pooped = nap time. And by nap time I mean I slept like the whole rest of the night. Danette and Cynthia went out for dinner to restaurant near the hotel and I never woke up. *like a rock* But overall, it was a SUPER great day. We needed rest to go explore more tomorrow and for the drive home.
