Cochem and Cards

On August 30th I went to a wine fest with my friend Cynthia. It was my first one and I had a blast! :D There is a river near here, the Moselle river, and right along there there are a bunch of cities that are full of vineyards and delicious white wines. On our way we even stopped right off the highway and had to snag an amazing photo of the river! The fest we went to was in Cochem, a city right along the river.

Once we arrived in Cochem we parked and walked down along the river to the festival.

I'd hate to have to pick the grapes on that hill!
This is a picture of the shops that lined the main road by the river.
There is a castle at the top of the hill in this picture too.

This was the wine menu at the first tent we stopped at.
You choose your poison and pay a euro deposit for the cute glass.
We ended up keeping ours because they're adorable.
There were lots of shops, vendors, and even rides for kids.
why yes, yes this is a stoned cone of fries. smoking a fry.
We walked around and went in to several shops and wineries. I tasted several wines and ended up buying two bottles.

Cynthia was super adorable in the little tiny archway :D

So much wine! These are from two different wineries we went into.

For dinner we stopped at a local steakhouse.

I had a steak with fried onions and Gouda cheese.
After dinner some of the stores were starting to close so we headed home for the evening. All in all it was a great time! I definitely want to go back and buy more wine. I even found some great little Christmas ideas. Luckily the city was only 1.5 hrs away so I know I can go back!

After we got back to Baumholder I had a friend come over named Jessica. I taught her how to play 'Hand-and-Foot' and we shared some wine. It was a great way to end the day.
