day 20: sickness continued. ew.

Wednesday I woke up for school, still feeling like crap. I'm thinking instead of me having a cold I had super bad allergies? or a sinus infection from having bad allergies and not taking medicine? Who knows. But I was miserable. More medicine needed to be bought today. I went to school for the first half of classes and, since I was sneezing again like every two seconds, I left during the pause. I went to the pharmacy next door to the school and bought allergy medicine. Our excursion for the day was to plaza de la encarnacion to see the Setas. I really wanted to go so I knew going home early to sleep and take the meds was a good idea.

Rob and I went to the SuperSol market near our hotel when I got home around 1130. We bought some drinks and food for our fridge in the hotel and then took a long siesta. I was feeling like crap and knew a nap would help. When it was time for the excursion Rob and I headed to meet the group.

this is a picture I posted a while ago, this is the Setas. In Spanish seta means mushroom and this structure has that nickname due to its shape.
We saw the antiquarium museum below and walked around on top of the setas. Our tickets included a free drink so we were able to enjoy the drink at the restaurant/bar on top of the setas. We didn't get to walk through the museum area but I looked it up online after our tour.

This is the antiquarium below the setas. Here roman dated ruins are displayed that were found when they were building the setas. They carved out below for a parking garage and found these.
On the lower level this is the model on display of the setas.

Below are two signs that explain details about the setas. They are both along the pathways on the rooftop.

Next are all views from the Setas. I took them from the walking pathways.

I like this one because, while you can't see any of the city, it shows the structure of the setas well.

On the next few for some reason the color came out weird? I'm not sure if I hit a button on my camera or if it was due to the sun or something. They almost look black and white but the sky is still blue?

And of course, Rob and I had to take a picture up there. It was SOOO windy.

Once we finished our drinks the excursion was over. In the evening, around 930, we had a "fiesta" planned at a restaurant on San Fernando called San Eloy. The party was for us to practice our Spanish with Spanish students learning English and allowing them to practice their English. Since we didn't want to walk home all the way to the hotel we decided to snag yogurt at Llao Llao.

yummy llao llao
Rob and I shared this chocolate masterpiece.
After Kristen, Rob and I finished our yogurt we walked around Calle Sierpes. Not sure if any of the readers remember the Ale-Hop shop in Madrid- I took a picture with the cow there and, since we saw an Ale-Hop in Sevilla, Rob and I took a picture with their cow.

love this man. and the ale-hop cow.
We walked down Sierpes to waste time and, by now, Rob and I were STARVING (since I only ate breakfast and Rob a ham/cheese sandwich I got him on my way home from school). At the party tonight they were going to have dinner BUT since we couldn't wait till 930 we went to El Colmaito for a few tapas. (I've mentioned El Colmaito a lot before, it rocks)

We had a few tapas and lots of tinto- especially since the owner gives us free pitchers :D then, around 845 we left El Colmaito and headed to San Eloy for the party. The party was a lot of fun- socializing, free food, and free alcohol lol. We all took over the patio in the back of the restuarant and began socializing. It was great practice to talk to other students and I loved helping them learn English. I felt so much better about my Spanish after hearing them try their English :D Rob was able to participate too with some of the students learning English.

This is me and Pablo- my group's tour guide, he rocks!
Once the party started to die down Rob and I and a bunch of other students headed to Bagdad, the hookah bar down the street. We all shared shots and some hookah- it was a great time. I didn't wanna be hung over for school tomorrow so Rob and I didn't stay out super late and get trashed but we shared shots and the hookah and then headed back to our hotel. All in all, it was a great night!!
